Relaxscape is also available to hire if you are looking for an events venue or somewhere to run your own retreat from. Perhaps you are a yoga teacher looking for a ready-made setup, a group of musicians looking for a music retreat, a cycling or motorcycle club planning a group holiday, or someone who is organising a corporate team building event or annual conference. You might even be looking for somewhere to hold an intimate wedding.
Venue details
Relaxscape is located in the secluded village of Cardal, leading down to a delightful lagoon beach at Bairrada and Bairradinha, on the river Zêzere. There is one café in the village, a short walk away. Cardal is 8km from the small but well-equipped town of Ferreira do Zêzere which has numerous cafés, restaurants, shops, several supermarkets, banks, pharmacies, a petrol station and a fresh food market every Monday morning. 17km away is the larger town of Tomar, with its charming medieval cobbled streets, Knights Templar history and UNESCO World Heritage Convento do Cristo.
Slightly further afield is the pilgrim shrine at Fátima, which is on the Caminho de Santiago trail. Relaxscape is conveniently located mid-way between Lisbon and Porto and only an hour away from the beach resorts of the Silver Coast.
The accommodation
The fully restored 100 year old house sympathetically combines modern comforts with traditional style. The comfortable rooms all have private en-suites.
There are three large comfortable single rooms, two with showers and one with a luxury bath, a double room with shower, and two other double rooms (one can be converted to a twin room) with deep soak baths with spectacular views over the olive grove, cork trees and forests.
Downstairs, there is a spacious open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting room, leading out to the terrace and down to the grounds. There is an additional shower room and toilet downstairs too. The open-plan space can be used flexibly for workshops and meetings, as can the outside terrace and grounds. What with the clement weather, the beautiful light in this part of Portugal and the inspiring views, we do find that our guests usually prefer to spend their time outside.
Other facilities
Relaxscape is set in a peaceful olive grove surrounded by trees and beautiful views. There is a purpose built yoga platform overlooking the garden that we made out of reclaimed wooden shelving from the original adega. There is a plunge pool on site, as well as the superb bathing river lagoon 10 minutes walk from the venue, which is also great for watersports. Boat hire can also be arranged. Around the village, you'll find some peaceful forest walks. We have bicycles available for guests to use and can arrange taxis for you into the nearby towns of Ferreira do Zêzere and Tomar.
We can also book you additional accommodation in the village should you require it.
Travel details
One of Relaxscape's best features is its secluded, peaceful location. This does mean, however, that it has no direct transport link other than a local bus 3 times a day, and taxis from the nearby town 8km away.
Tomar, a 20 minute drive away, has a station with direct trains to Lisbon. Entroncamento is a further 10 minutes drive, and offers a faster train service. Ferreira do Zêzere has a daily bus service to Lisbon. Lisbon Airport is 1.5 hours drive away and it takes 2 hours to drive to Porto.
We can arrange transfers on your behalf from Lisbon Airport, Tomar, Entroncamento and Ferreira do Zêzere. If you would like your guests to be more independent during their stay at Relaxscape, we suggest they hire a car at the airport.
We try to be as eco conscious as possible at Relaxscape, respecting our environment, using natural materials where we can, re-using and recycling, conserving water and energy (we use solar power and renewable energy whenever possible). We kindly ask our guests to respect these principles and our home when they stay with us as they help to create a more sustainable world for us all.
